OPTION 3 - TRUE HTML EDITOR (EXPRESSION OR DREAMWEAVER)

MICROSOFT FRONTPAGE
Microsoft recently announced the EOL (End Of Life) of Microsoft FrontPage. With this in mind they'll no longer support it or add any enhancements. In it's place they have replaced it with Microsoft Expression. Expression is a true HTML editor that will allow you nearly complete control of your website. You can add custom HTML code to your website such as scripts or any other website add-ons.

MACROMEDIA DREAMWEAVER
Dreamweaver is another web development tool, enabling users to efficiently design, develop and maintain websites. Dreamweaver gives you the option to view the site as you build it but to switch over to HTML view for furher customization. Dreamweaver 8 is designed for the most advanced web developers, as well as for the less experienced.

Dreamweaver is a bit more advanced than FrontPage/Expression in it's ability to use advanced programming languages such as PHP so if you plan on using PHP once you build some experience Dreamweaver may be for you. You can view it's features at Amazon.com.

OPTION 4 - FREE WEBSITE DESIGN SOFTWARE

Probably the best free website builder on the market is Coffe Cup Website Builder. The free version doesn't have all of the bells & whistles that the full version does but you can always upgrade once you feel that you need some advanced capabilities.
